I’m Clare Shaw: poet and performer, tutor and trainer.
I have four poetry collections published by Bloodaxe. My last collection Towards a General Theory of Love (2022) explored how love - and its absence – shapes our lives. It won a Northern Writer’s Award, and was a Poetry Society Book of the Year 2022. I’m widely anthologised, and I’ve written and presented for Radio 3 and 4.
I’m passionate about the power of language, and I work with a wide range of organisations to share that passion. This includes Wordsworth Grasmere, The Royal Literary Fund and the Arvon Foundation as well as festivals, universities, workplaces and schools across the UK and beyond.
